The Listening Nook

I’m on a journey to listen to an album a day.

If you’d like to follow on my adventure, learn more about music, and discover new favorites with me, then read on!

Each week I’ll share the 5-7 albums I’ve listened to, and highlight the favorite listen of the week!

My Setup

In the era of streaming, it’s really important that we buy physical media whenever possible. Artists only make an average of $0.003 - $0.005 per stream on platforms like Spotify or Apple Music, meaning the margin on physical media and the artist takeaway pay is much higher. I’ve recently taken an interest in collecting vinyl records, and am trying to make that the main way I consume music to better support other artists.

Of course, the life of a working musician never stops, and so there may be days I listen to music on-the-go through other means while juggling my other commitments.

For my primary listening setup, I’m using a Philips G-312 turntable and a Realistic STA-720 AM-FM receiver, and RCA speakers.

In instances where I can’t find a LP of an album, I also have a Sharp CD-ES600 CD and Cassette player.
